Welcome to CIAT

New (beta) feature!

I realized the need for keeping a journal/diary, and decided to implement it here.

It is currently in beta, but quite functional.

To give it a spin, go to ciat.no/log after logging in. And please let me know if there are any issues.

What is it?

Control Interface for Active Tasks is a simple and easy-to-use task handler inspired by some of the principles behind David Allen's GTD work-life management system. It helps you keep track of your tasks, be it at work or at home.

Public registration is now open. Please read the terms of service before signing up.

Log in with username "demo" and password "demo" if you want to try it out, but keep in mind that the demo tasks are visible and editable for anyone and everyone.

How does it work?

Log in using the form in the heading. If you want to stay logged in, you will need to use the full login form and check the "remember me" box.

The idea is that each task should be a physical and visible action that doesn't need further processing. That means "organize a seminar" is not a good task, while "call Overlook Hotel and book conference room" is. In other words, a task should be written in such a concrete manner that you will instantly know what to do without putting any more thought into it.

The interface is meant to be fairly simple. When logged in, you will be presented with the following buttons:

The active filter will be highlighted in italics, like this:

Existing tasks will look like this:

Simply click the buttons to change the task's status.

To edit the task, click the title.

Tasks are sorted by status (unless you set one of the filters), and then the newest first. The exception is the tasks screen, in which the tasks are sorted by completion time (latest first).

The action buttons are made smaller in order to fit into the boxes on mobile devices:

Export your tasks

You can export your tasks as a csv file in ISO-8859-1 (works in Excel for Windows) and Mac OS Roman (works in Excel:mac). Please note that multi-line cells will not be fully visible in Excel unless you adjust the line height accordingly.

Other functions

The following functions are only available for logged-in users. This of course includes the demo user.
